Need
Food and clothing is given out on a demonstrated needs basis, which means that you don't have enough money left over to properly (and nutritiously) feed and clothe you and your family. You are required to fill out an application indicating the number of people in your household. In addition, clients are required to fill out a proof of income form which may require a copy of your most recent tax return.
"How often can I come?"
You may come once per month.
"Do I need to bring anything?"
You will need to bring some form of ID with your current address.
"Do I need to have an appointment?"
No appointment is necessary. Just visit us any time that we are open on Tuesday or Wednesday between 9:00 and 3:00, or Thursday between 1:00 and 8:00.
"Where are you located?"

"What happens when I come in?"
On your first visit...
A worker will sit down with you and fill out an application, including your name, address, and phone number and the names and ages of everyone (in your house) that you are responsible to feed and clothe.
We will ask your permission to call you.
We will ask if there is anything that we can pray about with you. We like to pray and believe that God is real and still answers prayer.
You will need to sign this application.
You will initial the traffic log indicating that you received services.
A worker will review the proof of income form with you. You are not responsible to fill it out the first time you come in. However, it will be required for subsequent visits.
Subsequent visits...
A worker will confirm that all information is the same and make note of any changes: address, phone, number of people in your household.
You may be required to offer proof of residency for any or all people listed on your application.
You will be asked for any prayer requests.
You will intial the traffic log indicating that you received services.
You are NOT required to provide your social security number for ANY reason.
"Why do you need to know the ages of everyone in my house?"
Because we receive a New York State grant (HPNAP), Foodlink requires us to record how many people we service according to age...children under 18, adults 18 - 65, and seniors over 65. We do not provide them with names.
"Why do you need to know the names of everyone in my house?"
Technically, we don't need their names. But we would like to consider you and your family as more than just numbers. We want to get to know you and, over time, show you how much we care about you. Again, we do NOT provide your names to any third parties.
"Is there a limit to how much food and clothing I can take."
Clothing...currently, you may take up to 6 items of clothing per person in your household, but this number is subject to change at any time, without notice. In addition, we ask that you be considerate when you are shopping and remember that others have needs too...in other words, please refrain from taking all of a particular sized item. We also ask that you do not take things to sell, since this is not the intention of the program. Although we cannot monitor this effectively, the Director reserves the right to remind all individuals of this policy at any time.
Food...food is given out according to how many people are in your household. Click on FOOD DISTRIBUTION CARD.pdf for the current distribution chart. Please note that we only offer what we receive, and therefore cannot guarantee that all items will be available at all times.
"Do I get to choose what kinds of food I receive?"
Yes. A worker will assist you as YOU pick out items from each food category.
Although we try our hardest to offer a variety of different foods, we are still at the mercy of what we receive. For example, we often get a lot of certain kinds of fruits and vegetables when they are in season versus when they are not in season.
"What about fresh fruits and vegetables and food requiring refrigeration?"
For the most part, we only store and distribute non-perishable items, which means that most of our items come in cans. We hope to one day have refrigeration to be able to offer a greater variety of items.
However, we will occasionally offer fresh fruits and vegetables from local farms as they become available to us. These are offered to our clients on first-come, first-served basis as they remain fresh for only a short time.
"Do you deliver?"
Unfortunately, we do NOT deliver at this time.
"Do I have any rights?"
